About Île aux Cocos
Île aux Cocos is a small reserve about four kilometres west of Rodrigues. The Rodrigues Tourism Office describes a sandy island with casuarina trees, shallow lagoon water and seabirds, including species that use the islet as a refuge. The island is a nature destination for visitors interested in coastal scenery and birdlife, reached as a boat excursion rather than by road.
The Tourism Office says visitors need authorisation from Discovery Rodrigues Co. Ltd and that departures usually take place from Pointe du Diable by chartered boat. Boat operators can be contacted through the Rodrigues Tourism Office, so arrange permission and transport before setting out; do not assume access can be obtained on arrival. The office notes that boat trips may provide lunch for the day, but confirm what is included with the operator you select. The location pin is an approximate departure-area point at Pointe du Diable, not the islet itself; use the operator’s directions for embarkation.
