About Trou aux Cerfs

Trou aux Cerfs is a volcanic crater in Curepipe, rising to 605 metres. The crater is about 300 metres across and 80 metres deep, with a small lake and vegetation inside its bowl. The slopes include pine and other plants. A circular road follows the rim, and paths descend into the crater. From the lookout, visitors can see Curepipe and nearby mountains.

Several paths cross the site alongside the circular road, making it possible to explore the rim or walk down into the crater. The hilltop setting gives a broad view over the surrounding part of Mauritius, and the crater itself offers a close look at the island’s volcanic landscape. Trou aux Cerfs is in the built-up town of Curepipe, so it can be combined with other stops in town.
