About Eureka House
Eureka House, also called Maison Eureka, is a historic Creole colonial house in Moka. The house dates to 1830 and is open for guided visits through the colonial home. The grounds include greenery and small waterfalls. Its period interiors give a view of the architecture and domestic spaces of the house. The building has about 109 doors and windows and 40 rooms. Its wooden Creole-style structure has a long veranda; the interiors display period furniture, antiques and objects illustrating 19th-century colonial life.
The estate also has a guesthouse with self-catered accommodation and a restaurant serving traditional Mauritian food. The house opened to the public in 1986. The guesthouse and restaurant are separate from the guided house visit, so confirm current tour arrangements before setting out.
