About Ebony Forest Reserve
Ebony Forest Reserve is in Chamarel on the southwest of Mauritius. The reserve describes its visitor experience as a chance to explore restored native forest, learn about endemic wildlife and understand ongoing conservation work. Options include a raised walkway through ebony forest, the Ridgeline Trail and a natural-history museum, with guided walks available at set times. Longer routes can include Sublime Point or the ascent towards Piton Canot, depending on the chosen visit.
The reserve gives route distances and durations, recommends suitable walking shoes and notes that the slope and raised walkways can be challenging for some visitors. It also says the visitor centre is more accessible than the trails, so people with mobility needs should contact the team in advance. Booking is not required for some standard guided tours, while large groups are asked to contact the reserve.
