About Île aux Bénitiers

Île aux Bénitiers is an uninhabited islet in the Indian Ocean off Mauritius' south-west coast, across the lagoon from La Gaulette and north of Le Morne. Formed by the coral barrier, it lies about 500 metres offshore from La Gaulette. The islet is roughly two kilometres long on a north-south axis, with a maximum width of about 500 metres, giving it a distinct, low profile in the lagoon.

The islet is known as an excursion destination, while the nearby Corail de cristal is a separate coral-rock formation a few hundred metres to its west. There is no road or bridge: visitors arrive by boat, and catamaran and speedboat trips from Black River stop at both Crystal Rock and the islet. Nobody lives on the island, so bring what you need for the day.
